Originally from Morenci, Ariz., Melissa Gaethje, PT, DPT, is a licensed physical therapist who specializes in therapeutic exercise and manual therapy. She received her bachelor’s degree in movement science and elementary education before graduating from the University of Arizona in 2005 with a master’s degree in educational psychology. In 2013, Melissa earned her doctor of physical therapy from the University of New Mexico.
Prior to joining the Arizona Bone & Joint Specialists team, Melissa worked at an orthopedic practice in Albuquerque, NM. Before that, Melissa worked at Copper Queen Community Hospital in Palominos, Ariz., treating adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients for post-surgical rehabilitation and a variety of orthopedic conditions.
Physical therapy has always interested Melissa. She was a teacher and coach for many years, which exposed her to sports injuries and allowed her to work closely with trainers to help the athletes return to sport. Melissa enjoys being a physical therapist because she feels it is very rewarding to treat patients and see them return to the things they love to do.
Melissa joined Arizona Bone & Joint Specialists because the practice has a great team of caring professionals who are interested in giving the best patient care possible. When she’s not treating patients, Melissa enjoys mountain biking and hiking.
