About Dr. Sousa

Dr. Paul Sousa is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery. He is committed to delivering high-quality care with a strong emphasis on enhancing patient recovery. Dr. Sousa is highly experienced in minimally invasive techniques, including the direct anterior approach for hip replacement, muscle- and tendon-sparing knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and robotic-assisted procedures designed to improve recovery outcomes. Utilizing his extensive training, Dr. Sousa strives to provide care that allows for same-day discharges. He also has a deep interest in understanding and addressing the reasons behind joint replacement failures.

Dr. Sousa completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He went on to finish a Master of Business Administration degree at Cornell University, Johnson School of Management in Ithaca, New York, before earning his Doctor of Medicine degree at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. Dr. Sousa completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He then underwent a hip and knee surgery fellowship at the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia.

Through his wide range of knowledge and experience, Dr. Sousa is well equipped to manage an array of joint replacement cases. He is also dedicated to patient education, ensuring individuals understand their treatment options every step of the way.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Sousa is deeply devoted to his family, which includes his wife, Allison, their son, Cameron, and their 100-pound black Labrador, Cooper.
